PT Dashboard - Electronic Trade Journal

Taking the Pain out of Recording Trades

PT Dashboard makes recording, reviewing and analysing your trades easy. It lets you keep track of your Trades, add Notes and Screenshots, and generate reports like Profit & Loss and Win Ratio.

It'll save you heaps of time, up to one hour per month or more, and stop the frustration of trying to manually manage your trades and screenshots. Plus, because the Dashboard automatically catalogues your data, you can easily recall some or all of your trades and screenshots from a single window.

And unlike most logging programs, the Dashboard also provides the power to fully analyse your trades so you can uncover which strategies are working and which are not. So the Dashboard will not only save you time, but also help increase your trading profits.

As the experts say, "you can't improve what you don't measure".

Take a look at some of the things the Dashboard can do...

All in One Window
Now finally you can review all your trade data in one screen. Here is the screen to review your selected trades; it shows the screenshots of your charts, and below are the Trade Details and and Trade Notes.

So you can quickly flick through your trades for a general review of your trades, or to locate a particular trade.

There's nothing like a picture to recall the trade to mind. And there's nothing like the Dashboard to quickly scroll through your trades. This alone will save you heaps of time and frustration.

Slicing and Dicing
Here we're reviewing the Win Ratio of our trades, broken down by Ticker and by Trade-Type (strategy), so you can instantly see what strategy is working for each Ticker.

How valuable is this information and how useful would it be to improve your trading.

You can slice your data in any way using the Ticker, Trade-Type plus four custom parameters. You decide what you want to track. It might be how close the entry was to support/resistance, or whether there was longer term confirmation of your entry signal, whatever you like.

And then you can instantly see what's going on with your trading. Remember, great returns start with quality measurement.

Trades by Month
This is a view of your trading performance for the first half of 2008. The top left chart show your profit and loss for each month in the range. By moving your cursor over the chart we can see that in April 08 we did 22 trades, with a profit of $3,490.00 and a trade win ratio of 77%.

The bottom left chart gives a breakdown of your trades including the number of wins, losses and zeros (neither win or loss). In also shows the win ratio.

The top right chart shows the number of trades taken for each ticker for Feb-2008.

And the bottom right chart shows the Profit and Loss for individual tickers, ETCC in this example.

Drilling Down
Now that we have a high level view of our trading, we can drill down to lower levels of detail. In the example we double clicked the month of April 2008, and this shows us the trade performance for this month.

You can see now that we are viewing the trades for each Day of the Month. You can keep drilling down to see individual trades if you wish.

By the way, the green line on the top left chart shows the number of trades taken for each day.

Trade Table
We can also see individual trades by switching to Table View. This shows us the trade date and time, the ticker, the trade price etc. Looking at the first trade where it says 'Lot1' this means that we closed one contract for a loss of $1.00.

The second lot 'Lot2' we closed at breakeven i.e. $0. Overall this trade was a loss so it's coloured red.

Can you see the last column where it says 'NP'. If the trade has an 'N' in it, it means that you have entered trade Notes for this trade. You can view notes simply by clicking the 'N'.

And if there's a 'P' in this column, it means that you have screenshots for this trade. You just double click to see the screenshots. How easy is that!

Viewing Screenshots
Here's a screenshot that we've taken. We've opened this window simply by double clicking in the 'NP' column of a trade in the Table.

This window shows all the pictures taken for this trade and you can scroll through them. At the bottom we can see the trade summary and any Notes taken.

Using this window saves you heaps of time because you can flick through your trades with everything in one place. Remember, reviewing your trade history is what will help improve your trading future.

Entering Trades
This is the Trade Window used to enter your trades. It fairly self explanatory; just select the ticker, date, time, trade price and if it's a buy or sell.

To enter Notes just click the pencil icon, and to capture screenshots just press Ctrl-Prtscr. The Dashboard will automatically sort and store it.

Note: When taking screenshots you can shrink the Dashboard so you get all of your Desktop captured in the picture.

Don't miss the News
The Dashboard also has an 'Alert' function that you can use to automatically download the News Announcement times from a website e.g. the US Economic Calendar website.

And you can set it such that it sounds an alarm 15 minutes or so before the announcement.

No more missing a news announcement when your about to enter a trade.
